Microsoft to launch ‘Surface Phone’ in January 2017

 
 
 

Microsoft are yet to set their foot firmly in the smartphone segment. Arguably true, Windows devices at the moment are still being overlooked for other operating systems due to lower user presence in the Windows phone segment.

Most of the apps available are either a third party replacement for the proprietary apps due to the fact that most prominent developers are still unsure about releasing their apps for Windows phone.

However, Microsoft will soon be launching new phones under the 'Surface' branding with Surface phones being purely based on Windows 10 mobile. But we're still skeptical about its success amid competitive market.

According to Vinereport, Microsoft are very keen to bring surface phones to the markets. However, there's not much of excitement considering the fact that Lumia takeover was moderately successful. There are ongoing rumors about the surface phones for some time now, but none of them have been found to be true.

But all we know is the fact that the surface phones will see its entry as early as January 2017. This being said, Microsoft's new phones will supposedly be all-metal retaining that "Surface" standards of hardware that they manufacture.

The surface phone undoubtedly would come out with some best hardware out there. In terms of camera, reports suggest that a 20MP Carl Zeiss rear-camera is possible with a range of sensors including a fingerprint sensor which is now seen commonly in most Android flagships and of course iPhones.

Seems like Microsoft would likely opt for the new-generation Intel Atom X3 processors for processing needs. However, there are reports that this phone would arrive in three variants. One among those would likely be out with 3GB or memory with internal storage being common for all three with the standard being 512GB.

Now, all of these seem very enthusiastic and keeps us on the foot as to what Microsoft can do with all these. It's the windows phone environment that stops most of the smartphone users where they'll likely face shortage of proprietary apps. However, Windows store has seen its own increase in the number of apps being added to it every day.

For the moment, it's still uncertain from a consumer point of view whether the surface phones would finally see its prominence. There's still some time till January to make sure whether all the necessities are fulfilled.
